A Saskatoon man is in custody after refusing to stop for Police early this morning.
Patrol officers observed a stolen vehicle near the intersection of Lorne Avenue and Taylor Street at approximately 3:00 a.m., February 27, 2018. When a traffic stop was attempted, the driver of the green Honda CRV accelerated in an effort to flee. The SPS Air Support Unit began monitoring the suspect vehicle from above and guided ground units to deploy tire deflation devices on Idylwyld Drive South. The suspect continued driving the vehicle on flat tires leaving the city limits traveling west. ASU officers guided a Canine Unit to a farmyard in which the suspect entered and attempted to steal a snowmobile. The suspect was apprehended by the Canine Unite and taken into custody. Officers transported the suspect to hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries consistent with dog bites before returning to SPS Detention. The suspect vehicle was found to have been stolen from Calgary, AB.
A 37 year old man is charged with Dangerous Driving, Evading Police, Possession of Stolen Property under $5000 and Breach of Undertaking.
