Saskatoon Police responded to an elementary school this afternoon after a concerned parent reported seeing an internet message regarding the potential for an event with a firearm at that location.
At approximately 1:25 p.m., the SPS was dispatched to a school in the 2100 block of McPherson Avenue. With the assistance of Patrol, School Resource, Traffic and Canine members, the school immediately went into a perimeter lockdown. Officers remained at the school as the investigation progressed.
Subsequent investigation into the matter revealed that a school of the same name in a different location was the actual recipient of the threat, and that the school in Saskatoon was not involved. The perimeter lockdown was lifted and the school has resumed normal access. The perimeter lockdown did not interfere with the classes occurring within.
