The Saskatoon Integrated Drug Enforcement Street Team (SIDEST), is investigating allegations of an unauthorized cannabis outlet in Saskatoon.
At approximately 10:00 a.m., February 27, 2018, Patrol members responded to a report of a break and enter to a business in the 600 block of 3rd Avenue North. Upon arrival, the property was found to be insecure as the result of a forced entry and an alarm was sounding. When Police entered they observed what was believed to be raw cannabis. Investigators contacted Health Canada and were informed that this business does not have a valid possession or sales licence for cannabis.
In consultation with the Public Prosecution Service of Canada, SIDEST investigators obtained a search warrant which was executed at 4:00 p.m., February 27, 2018. Approximately three pounds of raw cannabis, $400 cash, and approximately 300 cannabis-based derivatives were seized.
The investigation is ongoing in order to identify the persons involved in the ownership and the operation of this alleged unauthorized cannabis outlet.
The Saskatoon Police would like to stress that the sale of cannabis or cannabis based products through a store-front is illegal in Canada.
