A 19-year-old woman is facing charges after the stolen vehicle she was operating swerved into the oncoming lane of traffic nearly colliding head-on with an unmarked police vehicle early this morning.
At approximately 5:00 a,m., May 31, 2018, two patrol officers were traveling in the 2500 block of 33rd Street West in an unmarked Police vehicle when an oncoming vehicle swerved into their lane of travel at a high rate of speed nearly colliding with them head-on. The vehicle then fled at a high rate of speed.
Officers continued to search the area for the vehicle and relocated it again a short time later at 33rd Street West and Kensington Road where they observed the vehicle ‘doing circles’ before colliding with a pole. The vehicle then attempted to back up and take off again but other Patrol Units had entered the area and successfully conducted a high-risk vehicle stop taking the driver into custody without incident.
The 19-year-old driver was arrested and charged with Dangerous Driving and Possession of Stolen Property over $5000, as further investigation revealed that the vehicle she was operating had been reported stolen.
