A man was sent to hospital following an assault yesterday afternoon.
At approximately 1:00 p.m., July 31, 2018, a Patrol officer was dispatched to a business in the 400 block of 20th Street West for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, Police located an injured 36 year old male who reported having been stabbed in the face with the blunt end of a fork. The victim was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Following the reported assault, the responding officer located the male suspect at the intersection of Avenue E South and 20th Street West. The suspect resisted arrest, resulting in a bystander assisting the officer in apprehending the suspect, until the arrival of additional officers. The suspect damaged a Police car as he was being taken into custody. He also refused to provide Police with his identity. Officers believe the suspect may have been under the influence of an intoxicant. An amount of hydromorphone and drug paraphernalia were subsequently located in his possession. The suspect and victim are not believed to be known to each other.
A 37 year old Saskatoon man is charged with Aggravated Assault, Mischief, Obstructing an Officer and Possession of Hydromorphone.
