An officer on Patrol suffered minor injuries today following a collision with a civilian vehicle.
Prior to the collision, the officer involved had been dispatched to a priority call. The marked Police car’s emergency equipment was activated at the time. The officer was traveling westbound on 22nd Street West and came to a stop when he reached Idylwyld Drive North. He then proceeded through the intersection and was struck by an SUV traveling on Idylwyld that had failed to yield to Police. The driver of the SUV was uninjured, but the officer suffered minor injuries. Charges against the driver of the SUV are pending as the investigation continues.
Saskatoon Police are asking motorists to avoid the intersection of Idylwyld Drive North and 22nd Street West.
At approximately 9:45 a.m., August 1, 2018, a 50 year old female driver struck a Police vehicle in the intersection. Injuries are unknown at this time, but Medavie Health Services and The Saskatoon Fire Department are on scene. Traffic is restricted and drivers are advised to find alternate routes until the scene has been cleared.
