A 30 year old Saskatoon man is facing a number of criminal code charges after being found behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle Sunday afternoon.
It all began just after 9:00 PM on Saturday night when police received a complaint regarding a vehicle being stolen from the 400 block Tait Court. The caller told police her brother had taken her 2008 Ford Edge without her permission.
At approximately 5:00 PM on Sunday afternoon police received another call from another family member who had spotted the stolen Edge near Ave N. and 22nd Street. Several Patrol units responded and the vehicle was located near the 100 block of Ave S South. As the involved Patrol Units worked to stop the stolen vehicle, the operator subsequently lost control and struck a second vehicle before crashing into a snowbank.
The suspect then ran on foot and pursued by several officers as well as a K9 member. In an obvious effort to escape the suspect forced his way into the entry area of a home in the 100 block of Ave S South. It was there that he was finally arrested.
The man was transported to the SPS Detention Centre at Police Headquarters and will be held for court Monday morning. He is charged with theft of motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, forcible entry as well as breach of a probation order he was bound by at the time.
