Woman And Dogs Fall Through Ice, Rescued By Good Samaratin

Shortly before 2:00 PM Sunday afternoon, the Saskatoon Police Service, MD Ambulance and Saskatoon Fire Department attended to the river on the south side of the new commuter bridge where a 28 year old female was reported to have fallen through the ice.

The female was walking dogs in the area when the dogs ran onto the ice chasing birds. Two of the dogs fell through the ice and as the woman was trying to rescue them, she herself fell through. She was able to get out of the water with the assistance of a bystander who used a stick as an aid to get her onto the river bank where emergency crews attended to her. She was treated for hypothermia and transported by ambulance to St. Paul’s Hospital.

None of the dogs were injured.
