Update To Injured Person/Homicide-1400 Block 20th Street West.

Update

Shortly after 10:00 am today a 26 year old male was arrested in the 1400 block 21st Street West. This male is charged with the First Degree Murder of Ken Balan.

The victim and the accused were known to each other.

The accused male will be presented before a Justice of the Peace within 24 hours of his arrest.

Saskatoon Police continue to investigate the death of a man who was found injured on July 6, 2018.

The deceased has been identified as Ken Peter Balan, aged 27, of Saskatoon. An autopsy was conducted yesterday by the Office of the Chief Coroner, the results of which confirmed Balan’s death to be a homicide. Major Crime Investigators are not releasing the cause of death at this time.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., July 6, 2018, Police were called to a report of an injured person in the north alley in the 1400 block of 20th Street West. The man was then transported to hospital by Medavie Health Services West where he died.

Police are currently at the scene of an injured person call.  The Saskatoon Police Service was called just after 5:30 PM this evening to the north alley in the 1400 block of 20th St.  A male victim was transported to hospital by Medavie Health Services West.  He has since expired.   Investigators from the Major Crime Unit as well as the Forensic Identification Unit are on the way to the scene.

Police are asking that the boundaries surrounding the scene be respected.  DO NOT CROSS police yellow tape and if at all possible avoid the area.
