A 38 year old Saskatoon man is in custody after being caught at the scene of a break-in Monday night. Shortly before 11:30 PM a resident in the 200 block of Ave X South woke up to the sound of his audible alarm going off. Seeing what appeared to be an intruder in his garage the resident called police. Patrol officers as well as a Canine unit responded.
The canine officer and his partner were first on-scene and discovered the suspect still in the garage. The officer instructed the suspect to surrender however the alleged thief attempted to run from the scene heavily laden with stolen property. He was apprehended seconds later and subsequently transported to hospital by Medavie Health Services West with injuries consistent with dog bites. Once he is stitched up he will be facing charges of Break, Enter and Theft.
