Detectives from the SPS Targeted Enforcement Section, with assistance from members from the SPS Guns and Gangs Unit have charged a 36 year old man in connection with a shooting that occurred on March 8, 2019. Members of the Guns and Gangs Unit arrested the suspect without incident on Tuesday afternoon. He will appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court later today. The 28 year old woman injured int he shooting suffered a non life-threatening injury and is recovering.
Investigation into the second incident on March 10, 2019 is continuing.
Members of the SPS Targeted Enforcement Section are investigating two separate incidents in which a shooting occurred over the weekend.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., March 10, 2019 Police were called to a report of an injured man at 20th Street and Avenue R. They located the man, suffering from a non life threatening gunshot wound, at St. Paul's Hospital. The man reported he had been walking in the area when he was shot by two men dressed in all black clothing. The 23 year old victim then ran to the hospital for assistance.
On March 8, 2019, Police were called to the 600 block of Confederation Drive. A 28 year old woman was suffering from a non life threatening injury. She reported to officers that she had been in the parking lot at that location when she was approached by a male who attempted to engage her in conversation before becoming upset with her, pulling a firearm out and shooting her. She was transported to hospital by Medavie Ambulance. The suspect is described as 6'3" in height, green or blue eyes and two gold front teeth. He was dressed in a hoodie, pants and hat, all grey in colour.
