Weapons Calls

The Saskatoon Police Service Emergency Response Team was kept busy today responding to two weapons calls.
The first was reported to Police just after 11:30 this morning. 3 or 4 youth were seen at a residence in the 200 block of Avenue G South pointing what appeared to be firearms at a schoolyard across the street. Members of the Emergency Response Team surrounded the home and asked residents to exit as a precaution. Upon further investigation the firearms were found to be toys. No one was injured and no charges will be laid in this incident.
A short time later the Emergency Response Team was called to the 1000 block of Northumberland Avenue. A motorist had called Police to report seeing two men with a firearm standing on that block. The Team surrounded a residence and blocked off traffic as a precaution. Upon further investigation it was found that the two men had been holding a pellet gun. There were no injuries and no charges will be laid in this incident.
Residents are reminded that toy and pellet guns can appear to be real, and when used in public can create false alarms regarding firearms.
