As people spend more time in their yards with the warmer weather, police are seeing more of this type of "crime of opportunity". Residents are reminded to secure their homes even if they are nearby. The target items are generally purses with identification and credit cards, keys, money, and jewelry. This crime takes only seconds to commit, and with smaller items taken, thieves are harder to detect.
These Break and Enters can occur anywhere in the city and the Saskatoon Police Service are asking citizens to be aware of any strange activity in their neighborhood and report activities they feel are suspicious. Citizens can do that by either calling the Saskatoon Police Service at 975-8300, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
