Suspension Of Saskatoon Police Service Members

Today, the Saskatoon Police Service has suspended with pay an Inspector and a Sergeant as a result of an incident which occurred on July 28, 2007.

The off duty Inspector was arrested by two Constables for Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired. The Sergeant was called to the scene and made a decision to discontinue the Care and Control While Impaired investigation.

As a result, an investigation is being conducted into the original Care and Control While Impaired allegation of the Inspector and an Obstruction of Justice allegation involving the Sergeant. Both criminal investigations will be reviewed by Prosecutions Branch, Saskatchewan Justice in order to determine if any criminal charges will follow. The alleged actions of both police officers will also be investigated to determine if any breaches of discipline may have occurred pursuant to the Saskatchewan Police Act.
