Police Investigate Unusual Accident

Shortly after midnight, police were called to a reported car pedestrian accident at the intersection of Avenue J South and 20th Street West. Upon arrival police came upon a mob that was in the process of attacking the responsible vehicle and its driver.

The driver, a 22 year old Saskatoon man, was rescued from the mob. He was transported to hospital suffering from the injuries received during the beating. His injuries are believed to be serious but non life threatening.

The victim who was hit by the car, a 31 year old Saskatoon woman, was transported to hospital by ambulance with serious but non life threatening injuries.

It appears as though the driver had tried to enter a private wedding party and was refused entry. A fight broke out between the driver and other party goers. The driver then got into a vehicle and drove into the female. He then circled the block and it was at this time that he was pulled from the vehicle and beaten.

Police have interviewed a number of witnesses. It has yet to be determined whether the car pedestrian was accidental or intentional.

The investigation is continuing.
