Stolen Auto Involved In Accident

The Saskatoon Police Service attended to a two vehicle accident at 6:05 pm today that happened at the intersection of Idylwyld Drive N. and 36th Street.

One of the vehicles involved was a stolen city vehicle, taken from City Yards approximately 10 minutes earlier. The stolen vehicle was northbound on ldylwyld Drive, and ran a red light at 36th Street colliding with a westbound vehicle. The stolen vehicle then rolled and struck a light standard before coming to a rest.

The 27 year old male driver of the stolen vehicle attempted to flee, however was apprehended by two citizens and held until police arrived. The driver was arrested for Theft Under $5000.00 and impaired driving. Accident investigators are still at the scene and further charges maybe pending.

A 58 year old women driver of the second vehicle was transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
