A 23 year old Saskatoon man is facing charges following a three month investigation by the Saskatoon Police Service Fraud Section and the RCMP Commercial Crime Unit.
Brandon Brian Therens was charged following the execution of a search warrant early this morning at a Sunset Estates home, east of Saskatoon. The charges include possession of credit card data, fraudulently obtaining a computer service, and theft under $5,000. Police believe a number of fraudulent scams were being run out of the home including credit card fraud, identity theft, and wireless point of sale terminal (wireless debit) theft and fraud. A number of computers and document making paraphernalia were seized, along with methamphetamine.
Further charges are pending, including charges against a second suspect.
Brandon Therens will make a second appearance in Provincial Court, Thursday, October 11, at 10:30 a.m.
Members of the Fraud Section will display items seized from the home and be available for comment Thursday, October 11th, at 9:30 a.m. at the Fraud Section boardroom, Standard Life Building, 128 4th Avenue South.
