A 43-year-old Yorkton man is facing charges after an incident involving a stolen vehicle last night.
At approximately 5:20 p.m., August 23, 2017, Patrol officers observed a stolen vehicle involved in an earlier gas-and-dash, travelling on 3rd Avenue near Queen Street. While attempts were made to stop the vehicle, the suspect rammed a Police Cruiser. The suspect exited the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene on foot. A CEW was deployed as the male would not obey Officer commands to stop. The CEW was not successful and the male continued to flee from officers. He was eventually taken into custody in the 500 block of 4th Avenue North.
The suspect was transported to hospital as a precaution.
The Patrol officer was not injured as a result of the collision.
The 43-year-old has been charged with Evade Police, Assault Police Officer with a Weapon, Theft Under $5000, and Possession of Stolen Vehicle Over $5000. (Court Info # 991023488). He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant and issued SOTs for Driving Without Due Care and Attention, Fail to Report an Accident to Police and Drive While Disqualified.
