Earlier this year, the Saskatoon Police Service Vulnerable Persons Registry was expanded to include those represented by an additional three organizations.
The Vulnerable Persons Registry was launched in October 2016 in partnership with Autism Services Saskatchewan. In early 2018, the registry was expanded to include persons with Acquired Brain Injuries (ABI’s), Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and Alzheimer’s.
The VPR’s primary goal is to increase personal and public safety by allowing for critical information to be submitted about a vulnerable person, which may be accessed during situations requiring police involvement.
An evaluation will take place later this year to determine further expansion options.
