Suspicious Death - 100 Block Of Ave P South

On Saturday, February 17, 2018, the Saskatoon Police Service, Major Crime Section arrested and subsequently charged a 26 year old male (previously mentioned in earlier media releases) with the homicide of 28 year old James Chaisson who was located in the 100 block of Avenue P South in the early morning of February 14, 2018.

The accused is facing charges of First Degree Murder, Kidnapping, Possession of a Firearm While Prohibited , and Breach of Recognizance. The accused  will make his first court appearance Tuesday morning.

Saskatoon Police Major Crime Section is continuing to investigate a suspicious death that occurred earlier this morning. 

At approximately 4:30 a.m., February 14, 2018, Police responded to a report of an injured male on Avenue P South between 21st and 22nd Streets. The 28-year-old man was later pronounced deceased at the scene. The nature of the man's injuries is not being released at this time but his death is now being investigated as a homicide. 

Next of kin have been notified, but the deceased's name is not being released.

Traffic restrictions were in place, but lifted at approximately 11:30 a.m. 

This is an ongoing investigation. Further updates will be provided by Public Affairs or Major Crime when they are available.

Traffic restrictions have been lifted on Avenue P South. 

The investigation is ongoing. 

Saskatoon Police are currently on scene of a suspicious death in the 100 block of Avenue P South. Traffic restrictions will be in effect until further notice, and motorists are advised to find alternate routes of travel while the restrictions are in place.
