Public Advisory - CRA Test Message Scam

The Saskatoon Police Service is advising the public of text messages claiming to be from the Canada Revenue Agency.

The Police Service has received a number of calls where the complainant received a text from someone claiming to be from the CRA. The sender requests the complainant reply with their full name and social insurance number. Police want to advise that your personal information is private, and shouldn't be given out via text message to an unknown number. Further, the CRA does not communicate with people via text message.

If you are wanting to report the attempted fraud, please do so to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/index-eng.htm). If have been victim of a fraud, please file an online report to the SPS (saskatoonpolice.ca/onlinereporting/).
