UPDATE: Suspicious Death - Meewasin Trail

The female in this photo has been identified and spoken to by Police. Officers are still looking to identify and speak with the male in the photo. The photo was taken near the intersection of 23rd Street East and Spadina Crescent East at 4:30 p.m., May 26, 2019.

The Saskatoon Police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying two persons of interest in relation to the homicide of 36 year old, Daniel Morrison. A photo of the two is attached for distribution. Morrison was found injured on the Meewasin Trail on May 26, 2019 before he succumbed to his injuries in hospital hours later.

Members of the Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section are investigating the fifth homicide of 2019.

Following an autopsy conducted by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, and with the consent of the family, the Saskatoon Police Service has identified a 36 year old male, Daniel Joseph Morrison as the victim of Saskatoon’s latest homicide investigation. The cause of death will not be released at this time.

On Sunday evening a person walking on the Meewasin Trail discovered Daniel Morrison injured below a pedestrian bridge adjacent to the 800 block of Spadina Crescent East. A nearby Saskatoon Police Service member on foot patrol was directed to Morrison’s location where additional officers and Medavie Health Services attended to. Morrison was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Daniel Morrison did not have a fixed address but was known to frequent the downtown core and riverbank area, including the area along the Meewasin Trail where he was found injured.

Morrison is described as having been 6’4” tall, weighing 176lbs. He had long hair and unshaven facial hair. At the time he was found, Morrison was wearing a light jacket, dark green in colour with blue jeans. He was also wearing distinct size 18, yellow Nike high-top shoes, (included in attached photo).

Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in speaking to any witnesses who may have seen Morrison downtown or along the Meewasin Trail on Sunday May 26, 2019.

Members of the Saskatoon Police Service, Major Crime Section are investigating the suspicious death of a 36 year old male on the Meewasin Trail.

On Sunday, May 26th, 2019 at approximately 6:45 pm Saskatoon Police Service, Patrol members along with Medavie Health Services responded to an injured male found under a pedestrian bridge on the Meewasin Trail adjacent to the 800 block of Spadina Crescent East. The male was transported to hospital and died from his injury.

Members from the Saskatoon Police Service, Major Crime Section  and Forensic Identification Section with assistance from the Saskatchewan Coroners Service  are investigating.
