A man is facing charges after attempting to flee from officers and resisting arrest earlier this morning.
At approximately 5:15 a.m., June 6, 2019, Patrol officers observed a man riding a bicycle that was not equipped with a horn or bell in the area of 36th Street West and Avenue C North. Further investigation revealed that he was also a person of interest in two break and enter files and as officers attempted to take him into custody, he attempted to run away. A short struggle ensued and a conducted energy weapon was deployed and successful in taking the suspect into custody without further incident.
Upon his arrest, the 30-year-old Saskatoon man was found to be in possession of items that had been reported stolen, as well as bolt cutters, two pry bars and a file.
He is charged with Assaulting a Police Officer, Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000, and Possession of Break and Enter Instruments.
The suspect was checked by Medavie Health Services staff and then taken into custody.
The incident will be reviewed in accordance to policy.
