Investigators with the SPS Economic Crime Unit are investigating after numerous fake and stolen ID’s were located in a hotel suite on Friday.

At approximately 3:00 p.m., June 7, 2019, Patrol members were dispatched to a hotel in the 100 block of Gateway Boulevard for a report of fraudulent activity. Officers learned that the occupants of a hotel suite had attempted to use fraudulent identification and payment. When officers attended to the suite, a lone male was located and arrested without incident. He was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Inside the suite, officers located a machete, stolen and fraudulent identification and credit cards, as well as multiple articles of electronic equipment for manufacturing forged identification documentation.

A 24 year old Saskatoon man is facing 17 fraud-related charges as well as a charge for possessing a dangerous weapon. Further charges are pending as the investigation continues.
