UPDATE - Vehicle Collision - 8th St East & Eastlake Ave

Saskatoon Police are requesting public assistance in locating a male who fled from a motor vehicle collision yesterday in which two people were taken to hospital.

On June 13, 2019, at approximately 5:50 p.m., members of the Guns and Gangs Unit were actively looking for a male who had an outstanding warrant for arrest after failing to appear in court earlier that day.

Officers observed the wanted male driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee in the 300 block of 11th Street East. They attempted to do a traffic stop, however the male refused to stop for police. He disobeyed a stop sign at Victoria Avenue and 11th Street and narrowly missed being hit by a vehicle.

Given the concern for public safety the officers did not continue in their attempt to conduct a traffic stop. They pulled over to the side of the road and deactivated all emergency equipment. The Jeep Grand Cherokee continued on, out of officer’s view.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee end up colliding with Honda CR-V at the intersection of Eastlake Avenue and 8th Street East. A 75 year old female driver and a 77 year old male passenger from the CR-V were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The male wanted by police then fled the scene on foot.

The male has been identified as Jeffrey Tkatchuck, born April 13, 1986. He currently has a warrant for his arrest for failing to attend court on charges that include Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5000 and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x 4 (Cocaine, Cannabis, Heroin, and Fentanyl) stemming from a drug investigation that resulted in charges being laid on June 22, 2018.

He’s described as being 5’8” tall, weighing 150 lbs, with green eyes and short brown hair.

The motor vehicle collision remains under investigation, but charges are expected.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Jeffrey Tkatchuk is asked to contact the Saskatoon Police at 306-975-8300 or to anonymously contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477.
