Update - Firearm/Drug Charges Laid - Two Vehicle Collision - Zimmerman Road And Highway 16

A 21 year old woman and a 34 year old man, both of Saskatoon, are facing a number of firearm related charges following a two vehicle collision at Zimmerman Road and Highway 16 yesterday. The man is also facing a charge of possession of methamphetamine.

The collision occurred yesterday afternoon in the eastbound turning lanes of Highway 16 at Zimmerman Road. An SUV was stopped at the left turn traffic lights when it was struck from behind by a pick-up truck. Responding officers located a shotgun on the floor of the truck and it's male passenger was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. The female driver of the truck was not injured, however the passenger suffered non life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital. Two occupants in the SUV were transported to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The 21 year old woman is charged with firearm related offences and breach of court conditions. The 34 year old man is facing firearm charges, a charge of possession of methamphetamine, and breach of court conditions. He will appear in court once he is released from hospital.

The collision remains under investigation.

Saskatoon Police are investigating a collision involving an SUV and a pick-up truck at the intersection of Zimmerman Road and Highway 16 east.

Police were called to the scene at approximately 1:00 p.m. today.  One vehicle had rear ended another in the eastbound lanes of traffic.  Three people suffered from what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.  Police arrested two people at the scene, one of whom is among those being treated for injuries.  

Collision Analysts remain at the scene.
