Operation Impact Traffic Focus Initiative

The Saskatoon Police Service is participating in Operation Impact, a national public awareness and traffic enforcement campaign from the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police over the Thanksgiving long weekend.

From October 9 – 12, Operation Impact encourages all road users to make safe, responsible choices behind the wheel. This year’s campaign theme, “Safety is in YOUR hands,” highlights the important role every driver plays in helping keep our roads safe.

Throughout the campaign, members of the Traffic Unit and Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan have planned additional projects focused on behaviours known to contribute to serious injuries and fatalities, including impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving, fatigued driving, and failure to wear a seatbelt.

Arrests - Stabbing - 10 Block Central Place

Two woman were arrested following a stabbing last night.

At around 11:00 p.m. on October 7, 2026, police were called to a residence in the 10 block of Central Place for a report of an injured person. Upon arrival, officers located two men suffering from stab wounds. Further investigation determined that an argument had taken place between persons known to one another resulting in the stabbings. The victims were transported to hospital for treatment of what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result, a 22-year-old woman was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and several counts of Breaching Court-Imposed Conditions. A 20-year-old woman was also charged with Obstruction and Breaching Court-Imposed Conditions.

Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit Public Advisory: Sextortion

The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit is advising parents and children to be aware of and familiarize themselves with online “Sextortion”.

Most commonly, offenders engage teenage males through chat based social media platforms, often pretending to be a young girl of a similar age to those they are targeting. Offenders establish a rapport with their victims before coercing them into sending intimate images of themselves. Once the offender receives the images, they threaten to send the images to the young person’s family and friends. They will then extort the youth for money to stop this from occurring.

In September of 2026, the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit received more than 20 reports of Sextortion from child victims in the province. Sextortion is an under reported crime and, as such, police believe there are more incidents occurring than being reported. Suspects in these cases are often overseas and can be difficult to identify and prosecute.

Parents are encouraged to have age-appropriate conversations with their child around personal safety online and what to do if they find themselves in a situation that makes them feel uncomfortable.

Stabbing - 300 Block Avenue M South

Police are investigating following a stabbing last night.

Shortly after 10:00 p.m. on October 6, 2026, police were called to the 300 block of Avenue M South for a report of a fight occurring. Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from multiple stab wounds. Through investigation, officers learned the victim had been assaulted by multiple people before the suspects fled. The victim was transported to hospital by paramedics for treatment of what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate.

Arrest - Evade Police - 19th Street West and Avenue T South

One man was arrested following an evade police incident early this morning.

Shortly after 12:00 a.m. on October 7, 2026, police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of 19th Street West and Avenue T South when it began to flee at a high rate of speed. Following a brief evade police incident, the driver exited the vehicle and began to flee on foot. After a brief foot chase, the suspect was arrested in the 100 block of Avenue N South.

As a result, the 25-year-old Saskatoon man was charged with Dangerous Driving and Evading Police. Through continued investigation, officers determined he was also a suspect in another investigation and further charged him with an additional charge of Evading Police, Hit and Run, Impaired Driving, and Exceeding .08.

Arrest - Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit Investigation - Regina

The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has charged a Regina resident with internet child exploitation offences.

In July, the Regina Police Service received a complaint regarding online child exploitation. The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit was made aware of the occurrence and began investigating.

As a result of the investigation, 40-year-old Michael ZATYLNY was charged on September 16, 2026 with:

Possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material

Accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material

ZATYLNY appeared in court on September 16, 2026 and was released on court-imposed conditions until his next court date on October 13, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. in Regina Provincial Court.

The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the Saskatchewan RCMP, Regina Police Service and Saskatoon Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material.

Robbery - 400 block Russell Road

Saskatoon Police are investigating a robbery which occurred overnight.

At approximately 11:00 p.m., October 5, 2026, police were called to a convenience store in the 400 block of Russell Road. Staff reported that a man, dressed in all black and wearing a black mask, had entered the store and demanded items. The suspect then showed staff a handgun before fleeing the store.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

Missing Person - Request for Assistance

The Saskatoon Police Service is requesting assistance in locating a 31 year old female, Taneya Chief.

Taneya was last seen on October 2nd in the 300 block of Ave R South. She is described as Indigenous, 5'4'', 240 lbs, with long dark hair. She also has a tattoo on her left forearm of a hummingbird and flowers.

Two Vehicle Collision - Hunter Road and Preston Ave. South

Saskatoon Police are investigating a two vehicle collision which occurred this afternoon.

Police were called to the intersection of Hunter Road and Preston Avenue South at approximately 1:30 p.m., October 5, 2026. A Honda CRV was attempting to make a left hand turn onto Hunter Road from Preston Avenue when a collision occurred with a Toyota Tacoma. One vehicle was flipped on its side in the collision.

It is believed three people suffered non life-threatening injuries.

Robbery - 1600 block 33rd Street West

Saskatoon Police are investigating two robberies that occurred on the weekend.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., October 3, 2026, police were called to a business in the 1600 block of 33rd Street West. Staff reported that two men had entered before stealing product and making threats of violence. They then fled on foot.

A few minutes later, a report was received that a man had been robbed while walking near 33rd Street West and Westview Place. In that robbery, the victim was threatened with a gun.

The first male is described as wearing a red hat, a black and grey Adidas track suit, black shoes and a blue t-shirt. The second male was wearing a Canada Goose toque, a black Nike vest, black shoes, pants and hoodie.

No one was physically injured in the robberies.

Weapons Investigation - 300 block Douglas Crescent

A woman from Onion Lake, Saskatchewan and a Saskatoon man are facing charges following a report of suspicious activity involving weapons on the weekend.

At approximately 2:50 p.m., October 4, 2026, police were called to the 300 block of Douglas Crescent. Four people matching suspect descriptions were spotted attempting to flee in a Jeep Cherokee. Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop and searched the vehicle and its occupants. They located a sawed-off rifle, a baton and a taser.

A 23-year-old man is now facing four firearm related offences. A 25-year-old woman is facing charges including; Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace (x2) and Carrying a Concealed Weapon (x2).

Stabbing - 300 block Avenue C South

Members of the Serious Assault Unit are investigating a stabbing which occurred on Friday.

At approximately 2:20 p.m., October 2, 2026, police responded to a report of an injured person in the 300 block of Avenue C South. Upon arrival they located a 34-year-old woman who was suffering from several stab wounds. She was transported to hospital.

Car/Motorcycle Collision - Broadway Bridge and 19th Street East

A 36-year-old Saskatoon man has been charged following a collision involving a car and a motorcycle at the bottom of the Broadway Bridge on the weekend.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., October 4, 2026, Police were called to the collision. The 28-year-old motorcycle operator was receiving assistance from bystanders at the scene before begin transported to hospital with what were believed to be non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the car was not injured. Police learned from witnesses that a verbal altercation had occurred between the two drivers while stopped at a traffic light at 12th Street East and Broadway Avenue and was followed by the collision a few blocks later.

The 36-year-old driver of the sedan is charged with Dangerous Driving. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 18th.

The 16-year-old subject of a missing persons investigation has been located and found to be safe.

Tatyanna Henderson had last been seen on September 29th.
