Five youth have been arrested after police were called to a community gathering for a report of a group causing a disturbance and believed to be in possession of a firearm.

At around 10:30 p.m. on March 14, 2024, police were called to a school in the 2200 block of Rusholme Road where a community gathering was taking place after a youth that had been involved in a disturbance was seen in possession of a firearm. Upon arrival, officers quickly identified four youth males and a youth female as being involved in the disturbance and isolated them away from the community gathering to conduct a weapons investigation. Upon search of their persons, officers located an imitation firearm, bear spray, and methamphetamine.

As a result, two males aged 17 years and 15 years as well as two males and a female aged 14 years are facing an assortment of charges relating to weapons, obstruction, drug possession, and failing to comply with court-imposed conditions.
