Arrest - Evade Police - Idylwyld Drive North And 39th Street

One man has been arrested following an evade police incident on Sunday.

Shortly before 1:00 a.m. on January 11, 2026, police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Idylwyld Drive North and 39th Street when it began to evade at a high rate of speed. Officers immediately disengaged and the vehicle was observed continuing north on Highway 12 out of Saskatoon. Further investigation determined that the driver of the vehicle was unlawfully at large. The vehicle was later reacquired entering the city on Highway 16 and a tire deflation device was successfully deployed as it crossed Beam Road. The vehicle continued into an industrial area where a police vehicle was used to make contact with the suspect vehicle; ending the evade police incident in the 1900 block of 1st Avenue North. The suspect fled from the vehicle on foot but was arrested a short distance away; he was found to be in possession of bear spray, a knife, and suspected crystal methamphetamine.

In additional to being unlawfully at large, the 23-year-old man was further charged with several weapons-related offences, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, operating a vehicle in a dangerous manner, and evading police.
