Break And Enter/Assault - 1100 Block Avenue J North

Two men are facing a number of charges following a break and enter and assault that occurred overnight.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., January 20, 2026, Police were called to a residence in the 1100 block of Avenue J North. The occupant reported arriving home and finding unknown men in the house, one of them armed with a sawed-off shotgun. The 43 year old victim was assaulted as they stole his wallet and attempted to steal the keys to his truck. The suspects then fled in a Ford Taurus.

Officers located the suspect vehicle shortly after and attempted a traffic stop, however the driver refused and began to evade Police, travelling first on Wanuskewin Road and McOrmond Drive before becoming stuck in a snowbank on Range Road 3050. Two males fled the vehicle on foot before being located by an SPS Canine Team. One male suffered injuries consistent with a dog bite. The Taurus was found to be stolen.

The two accused, ages 40 and 33, are facing more than ten charges including; Armed Robbery, Dangerous Driving, Evade Police, Theft and Breach of Probation.

The victim suffered non life-threatening injuries during the assault.

Members of the General Investigation Section continue to investigate the incident. Further charges are expected.
