One man has been charged in relation to an incident that led to an officer-involved shooting in December of 2025.
On January 21, 2026, investigators charged the 25-year-old suspect in the investigation with attempted murder and uttering threats to cause death. The man remains in hospital in stable condition.
Within the criteria set out in The Police Act, 1990, the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is continuing to investigate. Further details will be provided by SIRT.

Saskatchewan’s Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is investigating an SPS officer-involved shooting that occurred late last night.
On Friday, December 19, 2025, members of the Tactical Support Unit were executing a warrant in the 1500 block of Rayner Avenue. During the incident, an SPS member discharged their firearm. One suspect, a 25-year-old male, suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to the hospital; he is believed to be in stable condition.
Within the criteria set out in The Police Act, 1990, the Saskatoon Police Service has notified the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team. SIRT’s Civilian Executive Director has accepted carriage of the investigation. Further details will be provided by SIRT.
As the investigation continues, the public can expect an increased police presence in the area.
