A 43 year old woman is facing charges following an eight hour standoff on June 30, 2026.
The woman was taken into custody at a home in the 2500 block of Melrose Avenue by members of the Police and Crisis Team (PACT) with assistance from members of the Tactical Support Unit and Crisis Negotiation Team. The woman had been wanted on outstanding criminal code warrants.
She was released from police custody on an undertaking for admission to hospital under The Mental Health Services Act.

Members of the SPS Tactical Support Unit and the Crisis Negotiation Team are at the scene of a standoff this afternoon.
Just before 9:00 a.m., June 30, 2026, Police attempted to serve a warrant of arrest on an occupant of a home in the 2500 block of Melrose Avenue. The female subject has since refused to cooperate with officers and has remained inside the home.
Motorists are asked to avoid the immediate area.
