Firearms Related Response - 400 Block Avenue T South

Saskatoon Police are continuing to investigate a report of people in a park carrying firearms.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., July 3, 2026, officers were called to the 400 block of Avenue T South. While on-scene conducting their investigation, a large dog broke free from its owner and charged at officers and began lunging and attempting to bite. After several attempts to de-escalate the situation, a conducted energy weapon was deployed but had no effect. The dog continued to act in an aggressive manner. At that time one of the officers discharged his service weapon, striking and wounding the dog. Animal Control then attended the scene and transported the dog for veterinary care.

None of the officers was injured during the incident.

While officers did not witness firearms in the park at the time, they are continuing to look into the matter.
