Two women were arrested and face numerous firearms related charges following a weapons offence and evade police incident Friday night.
At around 10:10 p.m. on July 3, 2026, police were dispatched to the 300 block of Avenue C South for a weapons offence where it was reported that a female pointed a firearm out the window of a vehicle.
Responding officers located the suspect vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated in the area of 20th Street West and Avenue D South. The vehicle did not stop for police and began to drive away at a high rate of speed, ignoring red lights. Officers followed the vehicle as it drove south on Idylwyld Drive before eventually leaving the city on Highway 16.
The vehicle eventually came to a stop near Highway 16 and Range Road 3040. Two women were arrested without further incident with the assistance of a Corman Park Police Service drone. With the assistance of the Saskatchewan RCMP, police also located a backpack which contained a firearm and ammunition.
As a result, two 25-year-old women are facing numerous firearms related charges. One of the women has also been charged with Evading Police and Dangerous Driving while the other has been charged with Breaching Court-Imposed Conditions and Possessing a Firearm while Prohibited.
