Two people were arrested following a machete assault yesterday evening.

At around 7:30 p.m. on July 16, 2026, police were called to a business in the 2200 block of 22nd Street West for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers learned that a security guard had been cut with a machete while escorting a group of people from the property. The suspects then fled the area. A short time later, police were called to a disturbance in the area of 20th Street West and Avenue Q South. Upon arrival, officers identified two persons matching the suspect descriptions from the earlier incident; both were arrested without incident and one was found to be in possession of a machete.

As a result, a 13- and 14-year-old have been charged with assault- and weapons-related offences.
