Arrest - Dangerous Driving / Evade Police - Avenue P North And 23rd Street West

A man has been arrested after an evade police incident leading to a successful K9 track early Sunday morning.

On July 26, 2026 at around 1:35 a.m., officers observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of Avenue P North and 23rd Street West. The vehicle did not have lights on, was travelling below the posted speed limit and was observed to have significant damage to the front end.

Officers had not yet initiated a traffic stop; however, the suspect vehicle began to drive away at a high rate of speed in the 200 block of Avenue M North. The vehicle continued to drive erratically through a residential area, disobeying traffic control devices.

Police followed the vehicle until the area of 31st Street West and Avenue G North where the driver exited the vehicle while it was still moving and ran away. Members of the SPS Canine Unit were able to track and locate the suspect where he was arrested. The suspect was treated on scene by paramedics for injuries consistent with a dog bite.

The 26-year-old man has been charged with Dangerous Driving and Evading Police.
