Two women were arrested over the weekend following a reported theft that led to an evade police incident.
On August 1, 2026 at around 9:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Preston Avenue North for a report of a woman who had stolen from a business. Call information stated the woman was in a vehicle in the parking lot.
Upon police arrival, officers located the vehicle as it was beginning to leave. Officers activated their emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, however, the driver did not stop. The suspect vehicle then hit a vehicle before fleeing at a high rate of speed southbound on Preston Avenue. Shortly after, officers disengaged before locating the suspect vehicle unoccupied and left running. Police located and arrested two suspects shortly after. It was also learned that the vehicle had been reported as stolen.
As a result, a 30-year-old woman and a 38-year-old woman have been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 and Theft. The 30-year-old has also been charged with Dangerous Driving, Evading Police and Failure to Stop at the Scene of a Collision.
