Two men have been arrested following an incident where a police officer was assaulted and bear sprayed.

On August 22, 2026 at approximately 12:40 p.m., police were called to the 1600 block of Avenue B North for a report of an assault.

When officers arrived, they learned one of the men had multiple outstanding warrants. While taking him into custody, he attempted to flee by kicking one of the responding officers. A physical struggle ensued, during which a second man approached officers and discharged bear spray in their direction.

While the first man was taken into custody, the man that discharged the bear spray fled but through continued investigation, was arrested on August 23, 2026.

As a result, one of the men, aged 33, has been charged with Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest, Personation with Intent and breaching court-imposed conditions.

The other 33-year-old man has been charged with:

• Assaulting a Peace Officer with a Weapon;
• Possession of a Weapon;
• Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order; and
• Obstructing a Peace Officer.

Both men are scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on August 24, 2026
