Charges Laid - Evade Police Incidents

With the assistance of the Air Support Unit (ASU), multiple people were arrested and face charges following two separate evade police incidents over the weekend.

At around 9:20 p.m. on August 23, 2026, police observed a truck driving in an aggressive manner westbound on 33rd Street near Avenue I North. As officers pulled up to the vehicle in the area of Avenue Y North and Marlborough Crescent, it fled at a high rate of speed.

ASU monitored the vehicle to the area of Massey Drive and Confederation Drive, and observed a man exiting the vehicle and running away. He was arrested by patrol officers a short distance away from the abandoned vehicle.

The 42-year-old man has been charged with:

  • Dangerous Driving;
  • Evading Police;
  • Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000; and
  • Failure to Stop at the Scene of a Collision.

Then at approximately 1:55 a.m. on August 24, 2026, police attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Avenue R and 20th Street West. The vehicle did not stop for police and began to drive away and was observed disobeying multiple red lights.

The Air Support Unit was able to follow the vehicle and patrol officers successfully deployed a tire deflation device at the intersection of 33rd Street and Idylwyld which resulted in the vehicle being disabled as it approached the 51st Street off-ramp.

Two occupants began to run away; however, ASU guided ground units to the suspects location where both were arrested without further incident.

As a result, a 28-year-old man has been charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000 and breaching court-imposed conditions. A 32-year-old woman has been charged with:

  • Dangerous Driving;
  • Evading Police;
  • Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000; and
  • Breaching Court-Imposed Conditions.
