A man is facing an aggravated assault charge following an incident involving a machete early Friday morning.

On August 28, 2026 at around 5:35 a.m., police were dispatched to an injured person call in the 1700 block of 20th Street West. Call information outlined a man had been assaulted with a machete.

Upon police arrival, a suspect was located and detained without further incident. Shortly after, police located a 32-year-old man with what were believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries consistent with a stabbing. He was transported to hospital by paramedics for further medical treatment.

The 26-year-old man who had been detained was arrested shortly after and has been charged with Aggravated Assault and breaching court-imposed conditions.
