A 23 year old man is facing a number of charges following an incident in which the driver of a stolen vehicle refused to stop for police.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., February 23, 2026, Police were called to a hotel in the 1300 block of 8th Street East. A 22 year old woman reported that an unknown male had stolen her 2014 Dodge Charger and fled the scene. Officers were able to quickly locate the vehicle travelling in the area. A traffic stop was attempted, however the driver continued to evade police at low speeds. The deployment of tire deflation devices was successful and the vehicle was brought to a stop near Jackson Avenue and Taylor Street. The driver attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended by members of the SPS Canine Unit. The 23 year old man suffered minor injuries consistent with a dog bite and was transported to hospital.

He is facing charges of; Evade Police, Dangerous Driving, Impersonation and Breach of Court Conditions (x3).

The 22 year old complainant was found to be providing false information to officers and is facing a charge of mischief.
