Saskatoon Police are investigating an assault with bear spray which occurred yesterday.

At approximately 9:00 p.m., February 23, 2026, Police were called to a business in the 200 block of Betts Avenue. Two women had been acting suspiciously and were believed to be attempting to shoplift when a loss prevention officer approached them. One of the women then deployed bear spray at the 43 year old LPO before fleeing the business. The LPO suffered the effects of bear spray and was treated for his injury. The female suspects were unsuccessful in stealing any items.
