Operational Support
Duties:
- Processes summonses for accused persons, subpoenas for police and civilian witnesses and prepares and processes court notices for police officers. Ensures the accurate and timely processing and recording of court related documents.
- Receives, maintains and distributes a variety of other court documents (e.g. Notices of Appeal).
- Approves police court appearances and records requests for court time pay or credit.
- Responds to urgent requests and inquiries from Police Officers, Prosecutors and outside agencies pertaining to court related documents and other related matters.
- Prepares, reviews, maintains and distributes the annual leave draw for all Divisions of the Saskatoon Police Service.
- Advises members on the Saskatoon Police Association Agreement as it pertains to court attendance.
- Performs the duties of other clerical staff in the Headquarters Division, as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 education.
- Graduation from a recognized business college
- Typing speed of 55 w.p.m.
- Four years’ diversified and progressively responsible police office experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of the principles of office management and current office procedures and systems.
- Considerable knowledge of court procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and type letters, reports and documents of a quality suitable for presentation to senior government officials.
- Ability to make arithmetic calculations rapidly and accurately.
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with government officials, civic employees and the public.
- Ability to prioritize and problem solve in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to pass the Saskatoon Police Service security clearance process and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Skill in the operation of current office equipment, including a computer with Microsoft Office word processing software.
Salary:
$59,785.68 to $65,913.60 per annum (2025 rates)
