Programmer Analyst (Support and Operations)

Duties:

1. Supports Windows-based police applications, macros, templates, scripts, and user accounts.
2. Tests and installs new software and upgrades existing software and hardware.
3. Provides timeline estimates of development and support work assigned.
4. Provides technical “help desk” support for systems and users.
5. Schedules and performs backups for systems software and data.
6. Provides technical support to facilitate the round-the-clock operations.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Degree in computer science plus four years' progressively responsible experience in Information Technology.

           OR

• Successful completion of a recognized, two-year, post-secondary computer technology or business systems program plus six years' progressively responsible experience in Information Technology.
• Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.
• Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
• Considerable knowledge of Unix, Linux and MS Windows operating systems.
• Knowledge of Informix, SQL Server and security-related applications.
• Knowledge of local, wide area and wireless networks.
• Knowledge of, and ability to support, Microsoft Office and Exchange.
• Ability to pass the Saskatoon Police Service security clearance process.
• Ability to respond dependably to user and system demands.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including making group presentations.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and individually.
• Ability to concentrate effort and focus on assignments.
• Skill in time management.

Hours of Work:

• Shift work and call-backs may be involved.
• Stand-by is mandatory for designated employees when operationally required. The employee must report to work immediately and be fit for duty.

Salary:

$85,754.16 to $89,817.84 per annum (2026 rates)
