Central Records and Exhibits
Duties:
- Supervises and manages assigned staff in the Central Records Unit. This includes interviewing candidates, training, mentoring and coaching staff. Responsible for mediating conflicts, assisting in disciplinary issues and conducting performance appraisals.
- Responsible for setting up regular shift supervisor meetings and compiling agenda items.
- Ensures compliance with The Youth Criminal Justice Act, Criminal code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Cannabis Act, and that uniform CPIC procedures are maintained.
- Liaises with CPIC field operations to ensure Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) compliance with CPIC policies and protocols.
- Establishes and maintains processes to ensure data entered into CPIC is accurate.
- Operates computer terminals and police software systems to enter, confirm, remove, retrieve and revise data and respond to enquiries. Ensures information is current and accurate.
- Conducts thorough annual and quarterly audits and desk liaison visits with CPIC field operations.
- Assists with researching, implementing and managing legislation changes for CC, YCJA, CA and CDSA.
- Assists with providing training, guidance, informational sessions and mentoring to Police Sworn Members.
- Liaises with a variety of external agencies for information requests, including RCMP, Crown Prosecutors, Queen’s Bench Provincial Court, Appeals Court and Saskatchewan Corrections, Public Safety and Policing, IJIMS Support, Sr. Crown Counsel Court Services Ministry of Justice, Justice of the Peace and other municipal police services.
- Liaise with various service providers to resolve technical issues.
- Responsible for accurate record keeping of the master log for all sealed and unsealed files in electronic format, including processing, maintaining, confirming access and ensuring compliance with SPS policy.
- Provides necessary direction and control to maintain current scanning and efficient filing systems.
- Prepares, verifies and authorizes electronic timesheets. Determines the need for overtime based on shift workload and staffing levels.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 education.
- Graduation from a recognized business college.
- Typing speed 55 w.p.m.
- Five years' police office experience, including a minimum of two years in a current CPIC supervisory position with CPIC maintenance experience.
- Thorough knowledge of, and ability to interpret and apply, current C.P.I.C., CJIMS, RMS., RCMP Web Terminal and L1 Intellibook Line-ups, SGI and other Police computer systems.
- Considerable knowledge of Criminal Code, Youth Criminal Justice Act, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Cannabis Act and Provincial statutes.
- Thorough knowledge of Police procedures.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple, concurrent demands while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to supervise, delegate work and train new employees.
- Skill in decision-making, conflict resolution and staff development.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to pass the Saskatoon Police Service security clearance process.
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Skill in the operation of office equipment, including police computer terminals.
Salary:
$77,902.56 to $85,888.56 per annum (2026 rates)
