Central Records and Exhibits
Duties:
- Receives, processes, maintains and disposes of found property including unclaimed articles. Disposes of hazardous, explosive and corrosive materials in accordance with regulations.
- Maintains safe keeping of all lost and found property by ensuring they are packaged, sealed and labelled correctly until returned to rightful owner or disposed of.
- Reviews occurrence reports of Police files to verify accuracy of all information entered in the Versaterm Records Management System (RMS). Inquires with investigating officer for follow up when required. Conduct queries for serial numbers on Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), RMS, Saskatoon Police Service Bike Registry, Bike Index website and the 529 Garage website.
- Handles all prisoner property of subjects recently released from SPS custody or Saskatoon Correctional Centre.
- Communicates with the public and responds to enquiries regarding lost property and submits Police occurrence reports.
- Contacts Communication Sergeant in order to facilitate the arrest of wanted subjects who attend the Lost and Found.
- Prepares monthly auction lists for property going to auction.
- Conducts research for the purpose of locating lawful owners of lost or found property and arranges for the return of such articles.
- Prepares cashier deposits of found monies.
- Locates, loads, transports and stores all types and sizes of seized and found property.
- Backs up the Exhibit Control Clerk when required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 education.
- Graduation from a recognized business college.
- Two years’ police office experience, including current RMS maintenance experience.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
- Working knowledge of Versaterm RMS.
- Ability to query data proficiently in specialized applications such as: CPIC, SGI, RMS and various bike registries.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and provide exceptional customer service, while dealing effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of customers in difficult circumstances.
- Ability to plan, prioritize work and solve problems independently while maintaining effective working relationships.
- Ability to research, analyze and interpret information in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Ability to review property files for clarity, completeness, accuracy and adherence to policy and procedure.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to pass the Saskatoon Police Service security clearance process.
- Physical ability to perform the assigned duties, including the ability to lift up to 22.72 kgs (50 lbs) unassisted repeatedly and amounts greater with tools or assistance.
- Demonstrated skill in organizing and prioritizing tasks.
- Ability to work safely and responsibly when handling and working with safety sensitive items.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple concurrent demands while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Skill in the operation of office equipment including a variety of computer and related software.
Salary:
$55,739.28 to $61,452.00 per annum (2026 rates)
