Human Resources
Duties:
- Provides confidential administrative executive support to the Human Resources Division Director, and managers, including coordinating and scheduling appointments and meetings.
- Receives inquiries made in person, by telephone, mail or email and determines the nature and priority. Responds to inquiries, when appropriate, and directs inquiries to appropriate parties, if required.
- Prepares and distributes Personnel Orders related to staffing changes, such as, appointments, transfers and promotions.
- Prepares and edits correspondence, communications, presentations and other documents as needed.
- Initiates, prepares and ensures completion of staffing report requirements to the Board of Police Commissioners, the Saskatchewan Police Commission and Statistics Canada using statistical data.
- Maintains daily calendar for the Director, including entering information into their calendar for upcoming events, screening and entering appointments and providing key information into the calendar.
- Coordinates packages for various committees and ensures minutes are kept and organized and follows up on action items from the meetings.
- Maintains the file management of records for the Human Resources Division, including electronic personnel files, records relating to performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
- Attends and participates in various committees, such as, the Occupational Health & Safety Committee and the Morale Committee, including preparing the agenda and transcribing meeting minutes.
- Creates and maintains a Human Resources tracking system for tasks to ensure all items and requests are completed within required deadlines.
- Maintains electronic personnel files.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from a recognized business college.
- Two to four years’ diversified office experience.
- Typing speed of 55 w.p.m.
- Knowledge of modern office procedures and business English.
- Ability to deal with confidential material in a professional manner, complying with the Saskatoon Police Service access and privacy policies.
- Ability to work independently, set priorities and organize own workload in a multi-task environment.
- Ability to maintain attention to detail and remain organized with a high degree of speed and accuracy.
- Ability to anticipate needs, identify potential issues and develop effective solutions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with SPS employee and executive, government officials and the public.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Skill in the operation of a computer with Microsoft Office and database software.
- Ability to stay current and adapt to existing office software updates and new software.
- Ability to pass the Saskatoon Police Service security clearance process.
Salary:
$59,260.32 to $69,630.24 per annum (2026 rates)
