Finance and Asset Management
Duties:
- Processes, coordinates and verifies accounts payable, accounts receivable transactions, including reviewing supporting documentation and resolving discrepancies as required, to ensure accuracy, proper authorization, prompt processing and compliance with established polices and procedures.
- Performs detailed bank and general ledger account reconciliations and investigates and corrects discrepancies.
- Reviews, verifies and reconciles daily sales records, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Administers purchasing cards, including reviewing submissions and supporting documentation, resolving discrepancies, determining eligibility requirements, issuing and cancelling cards, and monitoring cardholder compliance and necessity.
- Calculates and prepares invoices for external organizations, ensuring accuracy, completeness of supporting documentation, and timely distribution.
- Performs cash counts and verifies cash receipts and deposits including the processing and reconciliation of seized and contaminated funds, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with established financial controls and procedures.
- Generates, reviews and distributes reports (statistical and financial) to other departments (internal and external).
- Prepares and processes routine journal entries, adjustments and accruals.
- Supports month end and year end financial processes.
- Provides coaching and/or training to non-accounting staff in decentralized operations and acts as a technical resource to other accounting and non-accounting staff, as required.
- Participates in business process reviews, as required.
- Responds to internal and external inquiries regarding financial transactions, invoices, payments, accounts and financial procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A Diploma in Accounting.
- Five years' related accounting experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Considerable knowledge of business English.
- Considerable knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, systems, and office equipment.
- Considerable knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and audit standards.
- Ability to maintain moderately complex records and perform accounting reconciliations, with a high level of detail.
- Ability to pass the Saskatoon Police Service security clearance process.
- Ability to interpret, and make decisions in accordance with, established policies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain sustained attention to detail and work within deadlines.
- Ability to coach and/or train non-accounting staff in decentralized operations.
- Ability to solve problems both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to develop and maintain Excel spreadsheets at an intermediate level of complexity.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Salary:
$69,591.36 to $76,724.88 per annum (2026 rates)
