A Saskatoon man was arrested on Saturday afternoon after he refused to stop for Police.
At approximately 1:00 p.m., February 15, 2020, members of the Traffic Unit observed a Volkswagen Jetta travelling at a high rate of speed, eastbound on 8th Street at Cumberland Avenue South. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. The suspect, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, lost control and spun out on the front yard of a home in the 1700 block of Grosvenor Avenue before colliding with a parked van on Shannon Crescent.
Patrol members later located the suspect vehicle stopped in traffic at Highway 16 and Boychuk Drive. Officers parked behind the vehicle and laid a tire deflation device in front of it. The driver was arrested from the vehicle without further incident. There were no injuries.
An 18 year old man is charged with Dangerous Driving and Evade Police. He’s also facing cannabis-related offences after Police located nearly 90g of marihuana inside the vehicle.
