Four people are facing charges following three separate incidents in which the drivers of stolen vehicles attempted to evade police.
At approximately 9:00 p.m. March 31, 2020 Patrol Officers spotted a stolen minivan at 11th Street and Avenue K. A traffic stop was attempted however the driver refused to stop. The Air Support Unit (ASU) assisted and a tire deflation device was utilized before the driver and passenger fled the vehicle on foot in the 100 block of Witney Avenue. A 34 year old woman and a 41 year old man were apprehended nearby. They are facing a number of charges.
At approximately 1:43 a.m. April 1, 2020, Patrol Officers spotted a stolen truck and attempted a traffic stop at Avenue P and Rusholme Road. The driver refused to stop, ASU assisted and stop sticks were deployed. The driver fled the vehicle at Ross Crescent before being apprehended a short distance away. The 40 year old man is facing a number of charges and was wanted on outstanding warrants. The vehicle was found to have been stolen in Alberta.
At approximately 3:00 a.m. Officers witnessed a stolen truck at 22nd Street and Avenue K North. A traffic stop was attempted at which time the driver stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. ASU and the Canine Unit assisted and a canine track resulted in his arrest nearby. The suspect suffered a minor injury consistent with a dog bite. A 20 year old male is now facing charges.
